The brother of Michael Schumacher believes that Christian Horner should resign from his role as team principal of Red Bull.
Horner was cleared of ‘coercive behaviour’ towards a female employee last week, though screenshots of a text conversation allegedly between the pair were leaked a day after via an anonymous email.
The husband of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, is now facing fresh turmoil after allegations were published in a bombshell 19-page investigation that named his accuser, while footage has emerged of the beleaguered F1 boss having a row with Jos Verstappen – father of his star driver Max.
Though Horner insists he will not leave Red Bull, Ralf Schumacher – a six-time race winner and younger brother of legendary seven-time champion Michael – insists the 50-year-old should step down.
He told Sky Germany: ‘Christian Horner is now required to really draw conclusions.
‘I think, if you can already see how the mood is against him, that he is not tenable and that he should simply resign now in the interests of the team.
‘I think the Thai side [at Red Bull] also has to realise: There’s no point in sticking with Christian Horner.’
Horner was spotted hugging and kissing wife Halliwell at the Bahrain Grand Prix in a show of unity.
Horner’s attempts to move on from the scandal have been hampered by the publication of an investigation into the case by trade publication BusinessF1 Magazine.
The article makes a series of new allegations against Horner and documents the power struggle at the top of Red Bull.
Sources close to Horner have dismissed the piece as ‘full of inaccuracies’, The Times reported.
Among his biggest critics is Jos Verstappen – a former F1 racer and father of Red Bull star Max.
Jos warned the ongoing scandal was ‘driving the team apart’ and that Red Bull could ‘explode’ if he doesn’t leave the team.
Footage has emerged of the pair having an animated exchange at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday.
Max Verstappen dominated the Bahrain Grand Prix, proving why he is a heavy favourite to win this year’s championship – which would be his fourth in a row.,
However, rumours have circulated that Verstappen could leave Red Bull amid the team’s current crisis.
Jos Verstappen was seen in conversation with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff after Saturday’s race.
It comes after reports that Verstappen told friends his son will move on from Red Bull if he has to.
Mercedes have a free seat for the 2025 season with Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, though Verstappen is contracted at Red Bull until 2028.
