What A Terrible Sad News: Bengals QB Decided To Just Set On….
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had his season cut short by one of the rarest injuries the NFL has ever seen. To be exact, there has been no other player to have the same injury he suffered in the 2023 season. Multiple doctors have now reported that this is a career changing injury, and because of the fact that no player has suffered this injury before, we will have to wait and see how Burrow deals with it.
Joe Burrow met with the media this week to discuss his injury and the time table of his return. While there is optimism for Burrow to make a full recovery, there is also what to be weary of when coming back from an injury no other quarterback has ever had to deal with.“I think middle of May is when I am expecting to kind of be cleared for full contact and everything,” Burrow told ESPN on Sunday. “Over the next month [to] month and a half, we’ll kind of decide all those things.”
Burrow has dealt with numerous injuries in his short career already but this one has doctors quite scared.
There is a report that just came out in which an orthopedic hand surgeon has a strong warning about Burrow’s injury.“Did this injury change his career forever?” a doctor asked an orthopedic hand surgeon.
“Yes, for sure,” the surgeon said.
“For context, he’s the only pro qb I’ve heard of with this, so it’s hard to gauge.”
The NFL is hoping that Burrow will be the same quarterback when he returns from injury as he is one of the best in the business. At the moment it is too soon to tell, but what is certain is that Burrow cannot keep suffering injuries year after year.“It’s a bad injury to have, invariably always lead to some instability over time and arthritis at an earlier age. 80% of normal strength and range of motion is common. Hard to do ‘dart throwers motion,’ which is important for snapping the wrist in the follow through when throwing. But these guys are super human, so I’m sure he’ll be fine,” the surgeon added.
