Done Deal: Jason Kelce Signs Reported $655 Million Deal With Cleveland Browns: A Game Chaging Move In NFL History?…
Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL on monday during an emotional press conference, and will now have more time to go to games with his brother’s girlfriend; Taylor Swift.
Since Swift started dating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, the ‘Shake It Off’ singer has become quite close to him and his family, including his older brother. Taylor met Jason for the first time at a match between the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the games.
Jason also recounted a chat he had with his wife Kylie before launching into his wild celebration. “I said ‘I’m taking my shirt off and I’m jumping out of that suite’. And she said ‘Jason, don’t you dare,” the big-time player shared with a laugh, reports the Mirror US.
“I don’t care, I’m doing it’. She was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we’re meeting Taylor. She was like ‘be on your best behavior’ but I was like ‘when I met you I was blackout drunk, this is part of the Jason Kelce charm’. I want to make my best first impression, this is my best chance,” he added, before Travis joked: “That first impression is like the worst impression ever.”
While Jason supported Travis during the NFL playoffs, Travis and the Kelce family were by the side of Jason as after months of speculation, he announced his retirement from football. After 13 years in the league, which included his Super Bowl victory in February 2018, he has brought his career to an end. Kelce’s last game was against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card of the playoffs.
Excitement was high when Travis caught an important touchdown pass, causing Jason to celebrate by jumping out of the VIP suite and into the stands, minus his shirt. Travis revealed on their ‘New Heights’ podcast what his award-winning girlfriend thought of this eventful moment. “Tay’ said she ‘absolutely loved you’,” the three-time Super Bowl winner told his brother, comparing it to a hilarious scene from the comedy film ‘Old School’.
Fighting back tears, Kelce said in his official retirement press conference: “I found it a great blessing to play in the most passionate sports town in America. The sense of urgency to win has pushed our organization, fuelled it to take chances, fix problems and work tirelessly to win. At times you hate it as an athlete … but when you’ve been through it enough, you learn to appreciate it.
“No one celebrates their own like the city of Philadelphia. The melting pot of geographic locations, economic background, race, body type, personality type and athletic traits of an NFL locker room is truly remarkable. We all rely on one another and respect one another and each of our differences because we know we’re stronger together. I will always cherish this brotherhood.”
