Another Elite Mega-Star Commit To Packers….

The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of a very important off-season.  2023 proved to the league that they have the potential to be right back in championship conversations.  A few tweaks on offense may be necessary, but the bulk of the focus this off-season will be on defense.

Addressing the defense may very likely come in the form of a free agent signing.  Today, one of the elite 2024 free agents commented on joining the Packers in 2024 and beyond.

Xavier McKinney was asked about teaming up his former college coach.  This time it would be in Green Bay:

It is no secret that the Green Bay Packers will have a huge need for a safety in the upcoming NFL offseason. Xavier McKinney has been mentioned as one of the best fits for the Packers. It was decided that the Giants would not provide him with the franchise or transition tags.

Following McKinney’s release from the New York Giants, general manager Joe Schoen left many wondering what he is doing with running back Saquon Barkley. Several safeties from Green Bay’s roster last year are now free agents, and it is unlikely they will be re-signed.

McKinney would be a massive addition to a team that is in dire need at his position.

Brian Gutekunst has made it clear that the team is not only open to trading draft picks to acquire a veteran, but may also be open to signing a free agent.

In light of Jeff Hafley’s love of the Safety position coupled with the Packers’ already existing need, they may decide to double dip at the position.

The Packers doubled down on pass rushers in the 2020 off-season (Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith).  The Packers could do something similar at Safety in 2024.
