Just In: Orlando Pirates Sends Off Another Strong Player To Kaizer Chiefs.
A transfer battle between Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs is brewing according to the latest transfer gossip!
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in signing a player who rivals Orlando Pirates have been eyeing!
The Glamour Boys have struggled to attract talent to Naturena but reports suggest they have the edge over Orlando Pirates this time around.
Sekhukhune United star Elias Mokwana is keen on a move to Naturena as he believes he’ll enjoy more game time there!
KAIZER CHIEFS EDGE AHEAD OF PIRATES IN MOKWANA RACE?
“A source close to Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates target Elias Mokwana has revealed that the midfielder would prefer playing for Amakhosi, should they table the right offer for him.” a Citizen report read.
“It’s confusing for a player when two big teams are eager to sign him, especially if there is that one team that has your heart. But, when things like this happen you have to make a proper choice,” a source told the same publication.
“Sometimes it’s not all about money, because you just want to see your career elevated and to be recognised. For him, it is about getting as much game time as he can and being able to feature more for Bafana.”
In other news, former Kaizer Chiefs midfield general Willard Katsande has opened up on his new exciting coaching gig.
The former Amakhosi star, who holds a CAF D coaching licence, has joined fourth division side Crystal Lake FC.
While his exact position remains unconfirmed for now, the Zimbabwean legend already has his eyes set on a head coaching role in the top flight!
Take a look at what Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande had to say about his interesting venture into coaching below.
AMAKHOSI LEGEND BEGINS COACHING CAREER AT CRYSTAL LAKE FC
“I have dreams of moving into coaching because I have the passion and one day, I want to be the head coach of one of the PSL teams. My main objective is to coach the Zimbabwe national team,” the Kaizer Chiefs legend told Kick Off.
Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has explained why he left the club in 2018.
The 34-year-old retired keeper says Chiefs treated him like a side chick in favour of Itumeleng Khune.
Khuzwayo played for Amakhosi between 2012 and 2018 but mostly sat on the bench as Khune was the club’s first-choice keeper.
Speaking to Gagasi FM’s Extra Time show, believes he was at time better than Khune in goals.
“If you remember correctly the last time Chiefs won a trophy it was MTN 8 and then the league, I was in goals,” Khuzwayo was quoted as saying on Extra Time.
KHUZWAYO EXPLAINS WHY HE LEFT KAIZER CHIEFS
“But the supporters were so glued that they still wanted Itu, but the numbers were not adding up.
“He was the favourite and sometimes there was injustice that happened in terms of him getting the number one, when he didn’t work hard to get number one,” he said.
Khuzwayo started 16 games in the 2014/15 league-winning campaign, which was ironically the last time the club lifted a trophy.
“One of the downfalls of Chiefs, which is why I left Chiefs. I was like a side chick at Chiefs knowing very well that he is gonna be there,” he said.
After leaving Kaizer Chiefs, Khuzwayo joined Orlando Pirates but injuries restricted him from making his official debut.
He later retired from professional football in 2019 after failing to recover from his knee injury.
Since leaving for Pirates, Amakhosi have never had a top keeper in their ranks after Khune.
Daniel Akepi, Brandon Peterson and Bruce Bvuma have all had their chance to impress but are nowhere near Khuzwayo.
In the 2014 MTN final, Khuzwayo won Man of the Match after helping Kaizer Chiefs beat Pirates 1-0. He made several top saves to hand Amakhosi their last domestic title to date.
