Good News For Ravens: Baltimore Ravens Head Coach Announced The New Backup QB Today….

CLEVELAND — The Browns are taking the tough lessons they learned last season about quarterbacks to heart.

Cleveland agreed to terms on a one-year contract with former Baltimore Ravens QB Tyler Huntley on Sunday, adding another veteran to give them more depth and protection behind Deshaun Watson.

Huntley is signing at the veteran’s minimum salary with the Browns, who spent last season juggling quarterbacks when Watson hurt his shoulder and eventually had surgery after making just six starts.

The Browns started P.J. Walker, rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Joe Flacco, who signed as a free agent in November and led Cleveland to a playoff berth.

Last week, the team signed 2015 No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston to back up Watson, who has been rehabbing in California since undergoing surgery in November.

Flacco remains unsigned.

Winston, Thompson-Robinson and Huntley will now stack up behind Watson, who has made only 12 starts since signing a $230 million contract with Cleveland in 2022.

On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns added another arm to their quarterback room by signing Tyler Huntley

The Cleveland Browns added yet another arm to their quarterback room on Sunday by signing former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley to a one-year deal. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com was first to share the latest addition.

Huntley’s has spent the entirety lf his four-year career to this point in Baltimore as a backup out of Utah. He’s appeared in 20 games since entering the league in 2020.

In those 20 appearances, he totaled eight touchdown passes to seven interceptions while throwing for 1,957 yards. Huntley’s most prolific season came in 2021 when he appeared in seven total games, making four starts, throwing for 1,081 yards and three touchdowns.

Huntley has actually made two starts against the Browns during his career, both starts nearly one year apart to the day. In 2021, Huntley led the Ravens into Cleveland in a game that the Browns were able to eek out a 24-22 victory, in large part thanks to a Myles Garrett strip-sack touchdown against Huntley.

370 days later he again led the Ravens into Cleveland for a Saturday Night Game under the lights at Browns Stadium. That contest was a sloppy and snowy matchup as the Browns snuck out another victory over Huntley.

As things currently stand the Browns are set to open up spring workouts with a quarterback room that features Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and now Huntley. Over the years Andrew Berry prioritized building a QB room with a number of arms and encouraging competition.

It’s almost a guarantee that Watson and Winston will be part of the 53-man roster come September, In recent years Berry has had a propensity to deal an arm before the start of the regular season. It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll exercise a similar aggressiveness this summer.

Either way, Huntley is a nice addition for the Browns to further bolster their QB room.
