Arkansas Razorbacks Adds Its First Commitment For The….

Arkansas football received its fifth verbal commitment for the 2025 class from safety Taijh Overton on Thursday.

Overton, 6-2 and 180 pounds, of Mobile (Ala.) Williamson had scholarship offers from Florida State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Central Florida and others before choosing the Razorbacks.

He visited Fayetteville on March 9 and plans to make an official visit June 21-23.

Overton had 116 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 19 pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 1 recovered fumble as a junior. He had 118 tackles, 3 interceptions, 19 pass breakups, 2 recovered fumbles and 2 forced fumbles as a sophomore.

Rivals and 247Sports rate Overton a 3-star prospect. On3.com and ESPN have yet to rate him.

He was recruited by special teams coordinator Scott Fountain, who recruits his home state of Alabama, and co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson.

The latest on Louisville transfer Tawfiq Thomas, plus Danny West’s take on Arkansas’ defensive tackle recruiting and an updated list of the Hogs’ spring visitors.

Arkansas hosted a pair of transfers from Louisville this week in linebacker Jaylin Alderman and defensive tackle Tawfiq Thomas. Alderman had plenty of positive things to say about his experience with Sam Pittman’s staff, and things also went well for Thomas, who was recruited by the Hogs out of Gaither High School in Tampa (Fla.) in the Class of 2022.

Thomas, 6-4, 310, played in 22 total games as a backup defensive tackle in 2022 and 2023, leaving him with two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

The Razorbacks did a lot to impress Louisville transfer linebacker Jaylin Alderman during his time on The Hill.

Arkansas is 10 days into the 15-day transfer window and has hosted multiple targets on official visits this week, including former Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman. The Razorbacks gained their first transfer linebacker of the spring last week when Jacksonville State’s Larry Worth called the Hogs, but more help is needed in a room that saw four departures following the 2023 season.

Alderman, 6-1, 230, is a Valdosta (Ga.) native who started 13 games for the Cardinals last season and still has two years of eligibility remaining. After a successful visit, defensive coordinator Travis Williams and the Razorbacks hope to see Alderman spend his 2024 season in Fayetteville.

There are major developments in the recruitment of college basketball’s elite prospects.

A recent flurry of decommitments has shaken up the college basketball recruiting circuit. Elite 2024 prospects and former Kentucky signees Jayden Quaintance and Boogie Fland requested releases from their National Letters of Intent following John Calipari’s departure to Arkansas earlier this month. Eric Bossi, 247Sports’ National Basketball Director, revealed the latest on their recruitment and a handful of other top available prospects this week on the College Basketball Show.

Four-star shooting guard LaBaron Philon (Kansas) and five-star small forward Liam McNeeley (Indiana) are receiving heavy interest from a host of college basketball elite after getting released from their letters of intent recently. Bossi updated their recruitments and shared which teams are the biggest threats to land the two playmakers.

Bossi also provided the latest news around top-ranked 2025 prospect AJ Dybantsa and four-star classmate Brayden Burries. The duo is in no rush to make a commitment, but several teams have emerged as contenders for the two blue-chippers.
