Rudy Gay opened up on why a coaching decision made the Sacramento Kings basketball hell in the mid-2010s.

Former Kings forward Rudy Gay sat down with Carmelo Anthony and opened up on why the Sacramento Kings in the mid-2010s was ‘basketball hell’, with the decision to hire Carmelo’s former head coach George Karl to replace Michael Malone being a major factor.

“You wanna talk about dysfunctional? I got caught up in a lot of that sh*t. For most of my career, I’ve been in some goofy as* sh*t. I gave the Kings some of my prime years, 22, 7, and 6. At that point, it was a lot… I gave them my best years but the organization was just in the middle.”

Gay said that DeMarcus Cousins wasn’t ready to become the face of the franchise but the Kings pushed him into that role early.
