“Different, but similar in some respects with Joe. Joe was set to be released. He was a player that we evaluated, and we thought could help our team in some capacity. So, to the earlier question, you get on the phone, talk to the team. ‘Hey, we’d be interested. Would you guys be willing to give up a pick, or if we gave up a pick would you be interested?’ That’s kind of how the trade was consummated.

Joe Mixon was shocked about the whole situation.

“It was definitely shocking,” Mixon said after signing a deal that includes $13 million guaranteed with a $10 million payout in the first year of his new contract. “I took that 24 to 48 hours to hurt. It took a while. I’m still having emotional feelings about it. That’s a place where I could forever feel like that’s home for me.”

The Houston Texans have brought in some incredible players this off season, most notably, Stefon Diggs. Now they may be bringing back a very familiar face in their best defensive player of all time J.J. Watt.

Watt left the door open for a comeback to his team but only if the Texans “absolutely need” him this season to get that first Super Bowl for the franchise. Head coach DeMeco Ryans would be thrilled to bring back the franchises bets player of all time for big playoff push.

“I told DeMeco last year, ‘Don’t call unless you absolutely need it. But if you ever do call, I’ll be there,’” Watt said, “And he knows not to call unless he absolutely needs it. This is the last year I’ll tell him that, because I’m not going to keep training [the way] I’ve been training.”

On a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio hinted at a possible JJ Watt reunion with his former team.

“It’s very early, it’s May, the season doesn’t start until September and then you’ll look at players the end of October, November case by case. Between him and Brady, we’ll see who jumps back in first

It does seem that Watt may be itching to get back on the field for his team as they are in the best position of their entire history as a franchise to win the Super Bowl this year. That is probably why Ryans would absolutely love to have Watt in that locker room this year.
