Braves Trade For NBA Outstanding Star Winning Player For A 3Year Contract Deal Worth $32 Million….

After a few days off, the New York Mets are looking to start a brand new homestand on the right note as they will begin this homestand on Friday where they will be taking on their NL East rivals for five straight games with the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies coming to town. At 18-18, it is important that the Mets start this homestand on the right foot and will begin this stretch by taking on their foes, the Braves for a three-game series set.

Entering this series, there was a little something more to this series that got Mets fans excited about these three games against their rivals. That is not the case as a former Met who spent his first six years in the MLB wearing orange and blue is no longer a member of the Atlanta Braves as they immediately replaced him with this former Met.

A day before his potential return to Flushing Queens, former Met infielder Luis Guillorme was traded by the Atlanta Braves and was sent to the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named later or cash. This move comes after the Angels were dealt with more injuries as they transferred third baseman Anthony Rendon to the 60-day injured list with a hamstring injury.

Guillorme, who was a Mets fan favorite known for his solid defense and his long beard never really had the opportunity in Atlanta. He only had 20 at-bats and batted just .150 in ten games played. With Guillorme’s short-lived tenure with the Braves over, they quickly found his replacement with another former Met.

While his tenure with the Mets was not as long as Guillorme’s the Braves acquired former Met infielder Zack Short from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations as Short will likely be taking over Guillorme’s spot on their roster. Short began this season playing for the Mets after making the Opening Day roster and played in just 10 games for New York and batted just .111 in nine at-bats.

The Mets later DFA’d Short when J.D. Martinez joined the Mets and then traded the infielder to Boston where he played in just two games until he got DFA’d again. So even though the Mets aren’t getting the reunion Mets fans were anticipating this weekend, we will still have one after all with former Met Zack Short now an Atlanta Brave.

The team is back under .500 as it continues to hover around that mark.

Following a rain delay that lasted just under an hour, the Mets played a relatively lifeless game against the Braves and lost by a 4-2 score.

Jose Quintana put up zeroes in the first and second innings, but the third inning did him and the Mets in. With two outs and nobody on base, Quintana gave up four runs in the span of just four batters, serving up solo home runs to Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies before walking Austin Riley and giving up a two-run home run to Matt Olson. The Braves didn’t score again, but it was more than enough for them to win the series opener.

Charlie Morton held the Mets to just one run—a solo home run from Francisco Lindor—through seven innings. And A.J. Minter threw a scoreless eighth before Pete Alonso singled in a run in the bottom of the ninth against Braves closer Raisel Iglesias. J.D. Martinez nearly tied the game later in the inning on a ball that went just foul, but he wound up flying out to center field to end the game.
