Breaking: Rams Are Closing In On Deal To Sign $14.2 Million WR And Return Specialist….

In 2022, Ben Skowronek emerged for the Los Angeles Rams as a solid receiving option, starting 11 games for the team. In 2023, however, his role was reduced immensely with the emergence of rookie Puka Nacua as well as an increased role for Tutu Atwell.

With star wideout Cooper Kupp eyeing a bounce-back season after dealing with injuries the past couple of years, not to mention veteran Demarcus Robinson giving the Rams a boost last season and looking to do the same again in 2024, Skowronek was unlikely to be a big part of the team’s plans.

As such, it had been reported that the Rams would be releasing Skowronek. However, before he was set to hit waivers, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that the Rams had agreed to trade Skowronek to the Houston Texans:

Later, Russini would provide more information about the trade, stating that the Texans and Rams have agreed to exchange 2026 late-round draft picks as part of the transaction:

Skowronek was a solid depth piece in the receivers room, but he wasn’t expected to play a big part, so the Rams felt that the move made sense. The team decided it was best to part ways with Skowronek as he had four receivers ahead of him on the depth chart in addition to tight end Tyler Higbee. Now, however, he will get a chance to contribute in Houston.

In terms of pass catchers, the Rams also selected wide receiver Jordan Whittington from Texas in the sixth round of this year’s draft, so there is no shortage of options, and ideally the move will be advantageous to both parties.

The Rams had good reason to make the move because, although Skowronek was a great depth piece in the receivers room, his role was not expected to be particularly large. The team decided it was best to part ways with Skowronek, who will now get a chance to make an impression in Houston, since there are four receivers ahead of him in the depth chart in addition to tight end Tyler Higbee.

There are plenty of pass catchers to choose from, and ideally this move will benefit both teams as the Rams also selected wide receiver Jordan Whittington out of Texas in the sixth round of this year’s draft.

“There is a lot of hope that freshly drafted rookie defensive tackle Braden Fiske can somehow make up for the vacuum left on the LA Rams roster by DT Aaron Donald’s retirement this season, even though there are no expectations that he can replace the loss. In the end, the Rams did use several draft picks to acquire the massive Florida State Seminoles in Round 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, moving up from 52 to 39th overall.

Fiske, a 6-foot-4, 292-pound defensive stalwart who can slide all over the Rams defensive front, is a throwback to old-school defense. Many draft experts anticipate Fiske to be more than simply an NFL starter, but one who will elevate

“While there are no expectations that recently drafted rookie defensive tackle Braden Fiske can fill the vacuum left on the Los Angeles Rams squad following DT Aaron Donald’s retirement, there is a lot of optimism that he can make up for it this year with a very successful rookie campaign. In Round 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Rams did, after all, commit several draft picks, trading up to 52nd overall to choose the massive Florida State Seminoles.

With his 6-foot-4 height and 292 pounds, Fiske is a man of old-school defense. He is a versatile inferno that may overwhelm the Rams defensive front, and many draft experts predict that he will not only be an NFL starter but also one who will elevate the game.
