This Is The Worst Day Of My Life” Dolphins Veteran WR Announce His Departure After Accusing GM Chris Grier Of….

Albert Wilson was a highlight waiting to happen throughout his three seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

Albert Wilson announced his retirement from the NFL Friday on Instagram after playing seven seasons in the league. The former Georgia State standout went undrafted but spent four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and later signed a three-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.

“To the Miami Dolphins Organization, I want to thank you for changing my family’s life forever and giving me the opportunity to come play in my home state in front of family, friends, and the youth in my community,” Wilson wrote in his announcement. “This provided me a chance to be a leader in front of my community and a light to shine at dark times we all suffered.”

Wilson appeared in 34 games with the Dolphins, setting a career-high with four touchdowns while averaging 15 yards per reception in 2018. A dynamic playmaker, he even threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jakeem Grant against the Raiders.

He played in 89 games with 38 starts for the Chiefs and Dolphins. He caught 218 passes for 2,499 yards and 12 touchdowns while rushing for six yards per carry on 27 career attempts.

Wilson finished his three-year contract with the Dolphins in 2021 and signed with the Minnesota Vikings on June 1, 2022. He spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders throughout the 2022 season but didn’t record a catch.

“To all my coaches and teammates throughout the years, I gained unforgettable bonds and everlasting friendships,” Wilson wrote. “Thank you guys for helping me become the man/athlete I am today.”

Knowing when it’s time to hang up the cleats is never an easy one, but it’s always best to do it sooner rather than later to spend more time with family, especially after getting that highly-coveted big long-term contract.

One recent Miami Dolphins mainstay is doing exactly that and is saying goodbye to the gridiron for good.

While the Dolphins have spent this offseason looking for an explosive third receiver, a familiar face of the past who fit that role to a tee has announced that he is retiring, as Albert Wilson is hanging it up after eight years in the league.

Wilson last appeared in 2021 and played three seasons for the Dolphins after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wilson left KC to sign a 3-year, $24 million deal with the Dolphins in free agency prior to the 2018 season and ends his career with 2,499 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Wilson has bounced around the practice squads of the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders since his contract with the Dolphins ended.

Wilson thanked the Dolphins in an Instagram post along with a lot of other gratitudes he bestowed upon his other former teams, fans, and coaches of his past, saying “To the Miami Dolphins organization, I want to thank you for changing my family’s life forever and giving me the opportunity to come play in my home state in front of family, friends, and the youth in my community.”

Best of luck to Wilson in his next career that he is admittedly excited about, being a stay-at-home dad.
