DETROIT (WILX) – Detroit’s QB Jared Goff was entering the final year of his current deal with the team heading into this upcoming season. It was then reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday afternoon that Goff had signed a record four-year, $212 million contract extension with the Lions.
Goff gets $170 million guaranteed, and that makes him the highest-paid Lion in franchise history. He helped lead the Lions to the NFC Championship game last season and threw for 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns.
The Lions have now given $444 million in contract extensions this offseason to three players, including Goff. Amon-Ra St. Brown got 4 years and $120.01 million, and Penei Sewell got 4 years and $112 million.
