Unbelievable: Caitlin Clark Says Choosing Iowa Women’s Basketball Was The Biggest Mistake That She Has Ever Made….
The Caitlin Clark
Thanks to her legendary career back in college with the Hawkeyes, Clark became a basketball superstar long before she was even taken first overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
The Fever were always going to draft Clark, an absolutely can’t-miss WNBA prospect, who stunned hoops fans across the nation with her scintillating style of play. During her four-year stay with the Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark managed to average 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists through 139 games. She was not able to lead Iowa to a national title victory, but she had the Hawkeyes coming close to it multiple times in the Big Dance. Her last game for Iowa was at the 2024 NCAA Tournament national championship showdown against the South Carolina Gamecocks, who beat the Hawkeyes, 87-75.
hype is real. She has yet to play in her first regular-season game in the WNBA, but the former Iowa Hawkeyes star has already generated so much attention that tickets for Indiana Fever games can be expected to fetch for higher prices than ever before.
In fact, tickets for her WNBA debut this coming Tuesday night against the Connecticut Sun on the road have apparently become a hot commodity even though they’re priced so much more expensive than Connecticut’s next game at home (h/t Legion Hoops).
The Caitlin Clark effect: @TickPick reports they sold TWICE as many tickets for tomorrow’s Connecticut Sun home opener vs. Indiana, than they did for Connecticut’s WHOLE LAST SEASON.

That loss to the Gamecocks barely had any negative impact on Clark’s hype train. If anything, that might have only made Clark’s desire to succeed in the next level burn hotter.
With Caitlin Clark in the fold, the Fever hope that they will be able to truly turn things around this time. They have not been to the WNBA Playoffs since 2016, which was also the last season they had finished with a .500 record or better. Indiana had already shown significant improvement in 2023 when they won 13 games, the most they had in a season since 2019, but the Fever still missed out on the boat to the postseason and finished third-worst overall in the league standings.
There will be some growing pains in the WNBA for Clark, but the expectation is that she will be able to adjust to a professional setting and tougher competition in the league sooner rather than later. And once she does, fans could perhaps start seeing her dominate the way she used to during her Hawkeyes days.
For what it’s worth, Caitlin Clark scored 21 points with three rebounds and two assists while shooting 6/15 from the field and 5/13 from behind the arc in her WNBA preseason debut against the Dallas Wings. She did not shine as much in the next WNBA preseason game versus the Atlanta Dream, as she only posted 12 points on 4/12 shooting from the floor, but she still came away with eight rebounds and six assists.
