Kent State defensive line transfer CJ West has committed to the Hoosiers.

Kent State defensive line transfer CJ West has committed to Indiana. In four years with the Golden Flashes the LaGrange Park, Illinois native played in 39 career games and he recorded 110 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one pass deflection, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Last fall West had 40 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble.

As a junior in 2022 he recorded 26 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.

In 14 games of action in 2021 West had 43 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection.

As a true freshman in 2020 he played in three games and recorded one tackle.

West made two visits to Indiana last month, including an official visit the weekend of April 26th.

He chose the Hoosiers over offers from Michigan, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Miami (FL), Kansas State, LSU, and Texas A&M.

 

Indiana adds LB Rolijah Hardy to the 2024 recruiting class

Linebacker Rolijah Hardy is joining the Indiana program for the 2024 season.

The Indiana program has added another player to the roster for the 2024 season with the announcement from Rolijah Hardy that he has committed to the Hoosiers. The Florida native spent this past year attending the Naval Academy Prep School after graduating from Lakeland H.S. in Lakeland, Florida in 2023.

In the fall of 2022 he was named The Ledger’s 2022 Big School Defensive Player of the Year after recording 101 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, five QB pressures, four pass break-ups, and one fumble recovery. Hardy was a key player for a Lakeland team that went 14-0 and won a state championship that fall.

Hardy signed with the Naval Academy over offers from Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, Tulane, Western Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown, Howard, Incarnate Word, and South Dakota.

Hardy will be a true freshman this fall and will have four years of eligibility along with a redshirt season.

Arkansas still holds the top spot, but Indiana and several others are not far behind heading into the back half of May. Duke and Washington are among the risers with high-profile commitments in the past week. Both teams are now positioned inside the top 25 of the transfer portal team rankings.

Although the window is closed for new entries there are still big moves taking place as teams try to build their rosters for the upcoming 2024-25 season. There are 14 transfer prospects from the top 100 rankings in this cycle uncommitted at this point. An abundance of elite talent was available this record-setting transfer cycle with more than 1,900 players entering their name throughout the 45-day window.

Some teams are forced to recruit through the transfer portal more than others as they undergo a massive roster overhaul. Most of the teams adding a high number of transfers experienced a coaching change and subsequent exodus of players into the portal.
