This Is The Worst Day Of Life Birmingham Attacker Announce His Departure After Accusing HC Tony Mowbray Of….

FLW’s Birmingham City fan gives his verdict one player that stood out for the wrong reasons

This article is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

A difficult season ended in relegation into League One for Birmingham City, and though few covered themselves in glory this campaign, our FLW Blues Fan Pundit revealed his belief that Oliver Burke in particular has proved to be an uninspired choice.

Burke arrived at St. Andrew’s on deadline day at the end of last summer, on a season-long loan from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.

Since his arrival at the Midlands club, he has failed to kick on as many hoped he would, and the stint is likely to be one best forgotten by the player and fans alike.

Fan Pundit believes Burke loan was a waste of time

When asked for the most underwhelming player of the Blues’ difficult campaign, Football League World’s Birmingham Fan Pundit, Mike, only had one name in mind.

He said: “Most underwhelming player for me is Oliver Burke.

“He’s been dreadful, and I don’t know anyone who would disagree to be brutally honest with you.

“I wouldn’t say there was huge expectation when he came in, but I think people saw it as a relatively shrewd acquisition.

“You look at some of the clubs he’s played for and some of the transfer fees he’s demanded. He’s just not at the level.

“Ridiculously inconsistent, didn’t really perform at any point, just massively, massively underwhelming. A waste of his time and ours is the summary from my perspective.

“I think we really needed a striker right at the end of the window and I think people were disappointed when he came in, but understood he could probably add something, and I think he’s been massively underwhelming.”

The temporary Birmingham switch was the forward’s second loan in as many seasons from parent club Bremen, fine for a young player, but at 26 years old, it does not look promising for his future prospects at the club, despite holding a contract that runs until next summer.

It seems to be something that Burke himself has recognised, on account of the fact that he changed agents at the beginning of this year, assumed to be ahead of him searching for a new club this summer.

The report states that it is expected that Burke’s favoured destination is England, but the precise club is as yet unknown.

Having been capped by Scotland multiple times, along with stints across the top tiers in Germany, Spain, England and Scotland, coupled with a wealth of experience in the Championship, the talent is clearly there with Burke, he just hasn’t yet found the right destination for himself.

It seems the hope is that with his new agency, Wasserman, one of the largest agency groups, he can benefit from their experience in the industry to find him the right placement as he plays out what should be the prime years of his career.

It’s an important summer for Burke, and he needs to get his next move right. Unfortunately, based on our Fan Pundit’s summary, it does not appear that St. Andrew’s will be his landing spot.
