Hill City boss Tim Walter says he was frustrated after his team lost to Leeds United this weekend. Leeds won their second game of the season at Elland Road as they moved up to fourth place in the league table.
The first half was a tense affair with both teams trying to figure each other out. Leeds went into half time in a stalemate. New signing Manor Solomon set up Mateo Joseph to score the opener. The Leeds youngster has been having a great season, this was his third goal involvement in two games.
Junior Firpo then set up Joel Piroe who put the game to bed after 81 minutes.
Tim Walter not pleased with Hull City performance
The German coach had been winless before Saturday’s game. When asked about how he felt after the result, Walter was not pleased about how the game went:
“Frustrating, Because we lost.” he said, via Hull Live.
“We want to win. If we play a game, then we want to win. We are not here to lose games, because in the end, you will lose games like we did, so that’s the reason why we try to change, to be more offensive, driving more forward. We conceded a goal in a bad moment where you can’t concede a goal in my eyes, then it’s a different game, and that’s how it went.”
The Hull City coach complained about how his team turned over possession too easily, and that was how Leeds scored both goals.
“We were not consequent at this moment (first goal). That’s our problem, that we don’t have the counter-pressing. If we drive forward, then you have to be inside. If you’re not inside, then you get another counter on the counter-pressing, so that’s how we concede the second goal.
“At the end, you are losing over here two nil and you are frustrated. Leeds are a good team, they are much further along than we are in their philosophy because the coach has been there longer, but in the end, it’s not necessary to lose over here and that’s the reason why I’m really frustrated.”
The win ends a mixed week for Leeds United fans; the club was able to get reinforcements during the final week of the transfer window. Leeds signed Manor Solomon, Isaac Schmidt and Ao Tanaka this past week. But not all the targets were able to be signed before the deadline.
