247Sports National Analyst Tom Loy joined the show to talk about a variety of topics.

“The buzz around Ohio State is real. My Crystal Ball prediction has been on Clemson since March 27, and I still feel good about it, but if I’m picking a school that is the biggest threat to potentially make me change that pick down the road, it’s the Buckeyes. And these stealth, behind the scenes, under the radar visits that don’t leak until a player arrives on campus, those are worth keeping an eye on.

Washington quarterback transfer Dermaricus Davis commits to UCLA

The Bruins are getting a former four-star from their own backyard.

Washington transfer Dermaricus Davis has announced his commitment to UCLA after a weekend visit to Westwood.

The Bruins signed a pair of quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting class but have just secured another signature from one of the top signal callers in their own backyard in the previous cycle. Here is everything you need to know about the former four-star from Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Etiwanda:

“A great opportunity for me to be in a pro system and be developed by a great staff with a lot of NFL experience,” Davis told 247Sports. “The visit was great. Being able to be back home definitely gave me a connection and a good vibe on campus.

“Always liked UCLA growing up and I definitely did follow growing up. I went to a couple games since I grew up down the street from the Rose Bowl.”

Davis held nine scholarship offers as a high schooler and initially went into the portal following the coaching change with the Huskies, but removed his name to participate in spring practice in Seattle. The visit to UCLA happened quickly and the Bruins closed on the commitment.

Davis was the nation’s No. 17 rated quarterback in the 2024 class and No. 22 overall prospect in the state of California, per the 247Sports rankings.

HOW DERMARICUS DAVIS FIT WITH UCLA

The Bruins brought in a pair of three-star quarterbacks in the 2024 class — Karson Gordon from Texas and Henry Hasselbeck from Massachusetts. Davis would slot in immediately to compete with those two for a spot on the depth chart behind starter Ethan Garbers and back-ups such as Justyn Martin, a former four-star.

Davis carries a lot of potential and this would appear to be a long-play from coach DeShaun Foster and Co.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins is a big believer in what Davis can accomplish at the next level.

“Davis’ game took a big jump following his junior season,” Biggins wrote on the scouting report. “We saw him multiple times last Spring and you could tell he was primed for a big senior year and was throwing with a lot of confidence. Tall, lanky quarterback with a frame similar to Michigan State redshirt freshman Aidan Chiles. Strong arm, tight release and the ball jumps out of his hand.

“Pure pocket guy who looks comfortable throwing on the run, rolling left or right. Can make the off-platform throws look easy and is comfortable throwing from different arm angles. Very accurate deep ball and mechanically solid and won’t need much tweaking to his drops, ball placement or release. Poised and natural leader and looks like a future captain down the road.”
